The US Biotek MOE-Tox Urine Profile is a comprehensive toxicant assessment that simultaneously evaluates mycotoxin burden, organic acid metabolism, and environmental chemical exposure through a single urine specimen. Mycotoxins are metabolites produced by mold species that can persist in the body and contribute to a wide range of chronic inflammatory, neurological, and hormonal concerns. Paired with environmental toxin and organic acids markers, this panel provides a clinically actionable picture of your total toxic load, which is a key piece of identifying root-cause drivers of complex, hard-to-resolve symptoms.
 
 

Before You Collect (48 Hours Prior) 

  • For Organic Acids accuracy, avoid the following for 48 hours before collection:

    • Beverages: Coffee, tea, alcohol, juice (see fruit list below)
    • Fruits and vegetables: Avocados, bananas, grapes/raisins, kiwi, pineapple, plantain, plums/prunes, tomatoes
    • Nuts and seeds: Pecans, walnuts
    • Other: Ketchup, vanilla extract, Jell-O, aged and processed cheeses

    For Environmental Toxin accuracy, avoid these preservatives for 48 hours before collection:

    • Sorbic acid / sorbate (E200-203), found in many packaged foods
    • Benzoic acid / sodium benzoate (E210-213), found in sodas, condiments, and processed foods

    Additional prep note: Avoid excessive fluid intake the evening before collection. An overly diluted specimen may be rejected by the lab.

Step 1: Prepare Your Kit 

  • Lay out all kit contents on a clean surface.
  • Label each of the 3 transport tubes with your full name and date of birth. Unlabeled tubes will not be processed.
  • Complete the requisition form with all required patient information. The name and date of birth on the tubes must match the requisition form exactly. 
 
 

Step 2: Collect Your Urine Sample 

  • Collect a first-morning void, meaning the very first urination of the day after 6 to 8 hours of sleep.
  • Begin urinating into the toilet first, then collect the mid-stream portion into the collection cup, filling it approximately 3/4 full.
  • Empty any remaining urine into the toilet.

Do not collect during menstruation or if you have an active urinary tract infection. 

 

Step 3: Transfer the Sample (Repeat for All 3 Tubes) 

The MOE-Tox Profile requires 3 transport tubes, each filled to the 7 ml line.


  • For each tube:

    1. Squeeze the top bubble of the pipette to expel air, then submerge it into the collection cup and release pressure to draw urine in.
    2. Move the filled pipette over the transport tube and squeeze to release urine into the tube.
    3. Repeat until the tube is filled to the 7 ml line.
    4. Cap the tube and twist firmly to seal.
    5. Repeat this process for all 3 tubes.
 
 

Shipping

  • .Place all 3 filled transport tubes into the biohazard bag along with the absorbent pad, then seal the bag.

  • Fold your completed requisition form and insert it into the exterior pocket of the biohazard bag.
  • Place the sealed biohazard bag inside the crush-proof box, then into the return shipping envelope.
  • Ship the specimen to the lab the same day as collection. No cold pack is required. If same-day shipping is not possible, freeze the liquid samples and note the date frozen on each tube.
  • Shipped via UPS. 
 
 

Results

  • Results should be released to your provider 7-10 business days after samples are received at the lab. Rupa Health cannot guarantee processing time.
